Welcome to the Siddique Lab Website!

Research in the Siddique Lab focuses on elucidating interactions between plant parasitic nematodes and their hosts using molecular and applied methodologies. The lab is run by Dr. Shahid Siddique, an Assistant Professor at UC Davis Department of Entomology and Nematology. You can see many of the lab’s publication here. And you can read about the lab members working in the Siddique Lab here.

What are Plant Parasitic Nematodes?

Plant-parasitic nematodes are destructive pests causing losses of billions of dollars annually. These pests are also intellectually fascinating due to their highly evolved interkingdom interactions with host plants.  (Video, Marhavy et al., 2019).

The current projects in the lab deal with modulation of plant immunity by nematodes and their functional genomics. You can find a comprehensive description of our current projects here.
